ICE or ClearView: 2 Visors and Ear Warmers Compared
PublishedBy Pro Sport Lights
ICE or ClearView? The short answer: choose the ICE with ear warmers if removable ear warmers matter to you on colder rides. Choose ClearView if you mainly want a lighter helmet: approximately 260 g versus 375 g for this ICE version. Both come with two visors and front and rear LED lights. Fit should decide your choice: the same size letter does not cover the same head circumference on these helmets.
Looking for a cycling helmet with a visor and lights, but unsure which Pro Sport Lights model to choose? This guide compares the ICE version with ear warmers and ClearView. We use current product specifications from our own store; this is not an independent road test. ICE always includes two visors and removable ear warmers. ClearView also includes two visors; ear warmers are optional and sold separately.
ICE versus ClearView: the key differences
| Feature | ICE with ear warmers | ClearView |
|---|---|---|
| Weight in product specifications | 375 g | Approximately 260 g |
| Ear warmers | Included and removable | Optional, sold separately (not included) |
| Included visors | Clear visor and sun visor | Clear visor and dark sun visor |
| Lights | White front LED, red rear LED | White front LED, red rear LED |
| Charging | USB-C, approximately 3 hours | USB-C, approximately 2.5 hours |
| Stated battery life | Up to 10 hours, depending on the light mode | Up to approximately 6 hours, depending on the light mode |
| Medium: head circumference | 49–55 cm | 50–57 cm |
| Large: head circumference | 53–60 cm | 54–61 cm |
| Colours | Matte black and matte white | Black and beige |
The weights and battery life shown above come from the product listings, not from measurements in a comparative test. Maximum stated battery life also depends on the light mode. Do not base your decision on one number alone.
When does ICE with ear warmers make sense?

Do you also ride on chilly mornings and specifically want a helmet with ear warmers? Then ICE is the first model to consider. The included ear warmers form part of the inner padding and can be removed for washing. They attach again with hook-and-loop fasteners.
At 375 g, this ICE is heavier than ClearView. If low weight matters more to you than ear warmers, ClearView may be a better fit. The ear warmers also take up space, so check the ICE size chart rather than assuming your usual helmet size will fit.

When might ClearView suit you better?

Looking for a lighter helmet with a visor and lights, without needing ear warmers? ClearView is worth considering. Its stated weight is approximately 260 g. A clear visor and a dark sun visor are included, so you do not need to order a second visor separately.
ClearView does not include ear warmers; they are available separately as an optional accessory. If you need them, do not choose it solely because it is lighter. Its size ranges also differ from those of ICE, which may matter more than colour or appearance.

ICE and ClearView have different size ranges
A Medium ICE is not the same size as a Medium ClearView. ICE Medium covers 49–55 cm and Large 53–60 cm. For ClearView, Medium covers 50–57 cm and Large 54–61 cm. Use your head circumference for an initial choice, then check the fit as described in your helmet instructions.
For example, if your head circumference is 56 cm, ICE Medium falls outside the stated range and ICE Large falls within it. With ClearView, 56 cm falls within both Medium and Large. That does not mean both fit equally well; only trying them on will tell you which shape fits your head.

What matters on everyday rides?
You do not need to choose based on the number of included visors
Both models come with a clear visor and a sun visor. Two included visors are therefore not a difference between these versions. If you later want an extra visor, choose an accessory explicitly listed as suitable for your model. A similar appearance does not prove that parts are interchangeable.
See the compatible ClearView visors; the ICE product page points to ICE accessories. You can also read our guide to choosing an extra visor.
Wear glasses? Check the combination
Do not choose solely because a helmet is described as having a visor. The space available also depends on your frames. Check the combination with your own glasses before using the helmet on a ride. We cannot promise that every pair of glasses fits under every visor. See our guide for glasses wearers for points to consider.
Take charging into account
Both models charge via USB-C. ClearView has a stated charging time of approximately 2.5 hours and battery life of up to approximately 6 hours. For this ICE version, those figures are approximately 3 hours and up to 10 hours. These are product specifications, not guaranteed running times for every ride or light mode. If longer stated battery life matters to you, ICE is worth a closer look.
Which helmet should you choose? Three steps
- Start with the size range. If your head circumference falls outside the range of the size you are considering, choose another size.
- Decide what matters most. Removable ear warmers point towards ICE; a lower stated weight points towards ClearView.
- Check the complete fit. Consider the helmet fit, any glasses you wear and the current product version before deciding.
Our advice: there is no universal winner. ICE with ear warmers and ClearView serve different needs. Appearance or the lowest price only matters once the model fits you properly.
