What size bike helmet do I need? Signal, ICE and ClearView size chart
PublishedBy Pro Sport Lights · Content updated
What size bike helmet do you need? Measure your head circumference in centimetres and compare it with the size chart for the specific model. At 58 cm Large falls within the stated size range for Signal, ICE and ClearView; Medium does not. The actual fit remains decisive.
A size letter is not a universal measurement. Medium ICE has a different range from Medium ClearView or Signal. Do not choose by age, gender or the size of your previous helmet.
How to measure your head circumference for a bike helmet
- Place a flexible measuring tape horizontally around your head, above your eyebrows and ears.
- Keep the tape snug without pulling it tightly into your skin.
- Measure again and note the circumference in centimetres.
- Compare the result with the chart for the model you want to order.
Size chart for Signal, ICE and ClearView
| Model | Medium | Large |
|---|---|---|
| Signal | 50–56 cm | 54–61 cm |
| ClearView | 50–57 cm | 54–61 cm |
| ICE with ear warmers | 49–55 cm | 53–60 cm |
This chart applies to the versions linked above. Always check the specific sizing for another model.
Medium or Large: examples to help you choose
My head circumference is 58 cm: which size should I choose?
At 58 cm, Large falls within the range of all three models. ClearView Medium ends at 57 cm, Signal Medium at 56 cm and ICE Medium at 55 cm. Do not choose Medium at 58 cm. Try the Large version and check that it stays stable without pressure points.
My head circumference is 56 cm: can I choose either size?
For ClearView and Signal, 56 cm falls within both Medium and Large. Which fits comfortably depends on your head shape and the adjustment. For ICE, 56 cm is outside Medium but within Large. Do not apply advice for one model to another.
Check the fit after measuring
Place the helmet straight on your head and adjust it according to the instructions. It should fit without pinching, sliding loosely sideways or tilting backwards. Move your head gently and check again with the buckle fastened.
Do you wear glasses? Try the helmet with your own frames and lower the visor on ICE or ClearView. Do not choose a larger helmet solely to make room for your glasses. See our fitting checklist for glasses wearers.
Ear warmers and winter lining affect the space inside
ICE comes with removable ear warmers that also form the inner padding. For ClearView, the Winter Kit with lining and ear pieces is optional. Choose the Kit in the same size as your helmet and check the fit again: extra lining takes up space.
Frequently asked questions about bike helmet size
Should I choose a larger size for more comfort?
Not automatically. Extra space can let a helmet move around. Use your head circumference for an initial selection, then choose the version that fits without pressure points.
Which size should I choose if my measurement is outside the chart?
Do not order a size whose stated range does not include your head circumference. Ask for advice about another suitable model via info@prosportlights.com. Do not remove protective parts to make the wrong size fit.
Can I try the helmet on somewhere?
Contact us in advance with your preferred model and head circumference. Ask about current fitting options and availability; an older dealer announcement does not confirm which models are in the shop.
What if my webshop order does not fit properly?
Under our current policy, you have a 14-day cooling-off period after receipt. You can return items free of charge from Belgium and the Netherlands via our returns portal. Read the current return and exchange conditions before ordering.
